You’re living on your own. Your health is good, but sometimes you worry about the future. Your children may live in another state, and you’re not sure whom you can turn to when everyday needs or major concerns confront you.

You love your home and neighborhood.

You don’t want to think about living anywhere else or being dependent on strangers.

The solution for you is right here in Woodstock and its surrounding communities.

Your neighbors have formed STAYING IN PLACE, our own non-profit membership organization inspired by the nationwide “Aging in Place” movement, the first of its kind in this part of the Hudson Valley.

Staying In Place Offers...

• Referrals to discounted, reliable service providers for home repairs, maintenance, house cleaning, snow plowing, landscaping, food preparation and more.

• Volunteer help with simple chores, shopping, reading, bill-paying, companionship.

• Recommendations for home healthcare agencies and personnel.

• Information about local, private, and public agencies.

• Access to free or low-cost transportation.

• Assistance with paperwork and technology.

• Opportunities for volunteer service.

• Advocacy for Seniors in the community.

• Regular lunch programs and members-only special events.

• Weekly “Friendly Hello” telephone call, if desired.

• Opportunity to join Independent At Home, a second level of support, offered in collaboration with the Resource Center for Accessible Living (RCAL), that provides needs assessment and case management.

• Access to a home safety and accessibility evaluation and modification plan, also offered through RCAL.

• Information about and transportation to local activities including classes, reservations to concerts, plays, exhibits, trips, lunch and dinner outings.

• Members only special events.

In addition to all these services you will have a voice in planning the services that will expand as funding, membership, and volunteer participation grow.
